Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan Travel to Afghanistan

The United States Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan, Ambassador James F. Dobbins, arrived in Afghanistan on June 25 to meet with key Afghan and international stakeholders to support the Afghan electoral process. Ambassador Dobbins will reiterate our position that the future of Afghanistan is for Afghans to determine. He will also note that we look forward to a productive relationship with President Karzai’s successor. Ambassador Dobbins will hold meetings with Afghan election authorities, the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan, and a variety of Afghan officials and political leaders.
