Assistant Secretary Nisha Desai Biswal will travel to Fords, New Jersey on July 2 to further the Department of State’s engagement with South and Central Asian diaspora communities. She will join Chairman of the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, Senator Robert Menendez and members of the Indian Embassy at an Indian diaspora community forum to discuss U.S.-India relations following the formation of the new Indian government. This engagement, which follows Assistant Secretary Biswal’s recent meetings with regional diaspora groups in Washington, DC; Boston; New York; and Tampa, Florida, is part of our ongoing efforts to affirm the importance of people-to-people and cultural ties, and the important role that diaspora communities play in U.S. foreign policy.
