Secretary Kerry To Host Ceremony in Honor of Special Representative Shaarik Zafar

Secretary of State John Kerry will host a ceremony to honor the appointment of Special Representative to Muslim Communities Shaarik Zafar at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 3, 2014, in the Dean Acheson Auditorium at the U.S. Department of State.
Special Advisor for Faith-Based and Community Initiatives Dr. Shaun Casey will also deliver introductory and closing remarks.
During this ceremony, Secretary Kerry will highlight the vital role Special Representative Zafar will assume in driving the Secretary’s engagement on issues that have impacted Muslim communities around the world. The Secretary will also underscore the important role all faith communities can play in promoting pluralism and countering hateful ideologies.
This event is open to the press.
