Special Advisor for International Disability Rights Judith Heumann to Travel to Mexico

Special Advisor for International Disability Rights Judith Heumann will travel to Mexico from August 4-9. Ms. Heumann will meet with a broad range of government, private sector, and civil society representatives in Mexico City to discuss issues of mutual concern related to the rights of persons with disabilities.
Ms. Heumann will discuss numerous issues with Mexican counterparts, including accessibility to physical spaces; inclusive education; the implementation of legislation governing persons with disabilities; and ways to increase advocacy opportunities for disabled persons’ organizations. Ms. Heumann will draw on the experiences, challenges, and lessons learned from the disability movement in the United States and explore ways to increase international cooperation to share best practices.
