Director General Arnold Chacon is pleased to announce that two Department of State employees, Bridget Roddy and Edward Ramotowski, and a Department of State detailee, Jacob Moss, have been named as finalists of the 2015 Samuel J. Heyman Service to America Medals, a national awards program that honors the achievements of federal employees.

Bridget Roddy, the Program Manager for the Department’s Virtual Student Foreign Service internship program, is one of four national finalists for the Call to Service Medal. She was nominated for her work engaging a growing number of college students who contribute new skills, ideas, and energy to assist diplomatic and international development programs around the world while working remotely from any location.

Edward Ramotowski, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Visa Services, along with his Consular Affairs team are one of five national finalists for the Management Excellence Medal. They were nominated for increasing the number of foreign visitors to the United States, boosting economic activity, and creating jobs by improving visa processing capacity and reducing interview wait times at embassies worldwide.

Senior Advisor Jacob Moss, an Environmental Protection Agency employee on detail to the State Department, is one of four national finalists for the Science and Environment Medal. Mr. Moss was nominated for his work building an alliance of federal and international agencies, countries, and corporations to bring more efficient cook stoves and cleaner burning fuels to homes in developing nations, protecting the environment and the health of millions of people worldwide.

The Partnership for Public Service will name the eight recipients of the 2015 Service to America Medals, including the Federal Employee of the Year, at a Washington, D.C., gala on October 7, 2015. Visit www.servicetoamericamedals.org for more information.

The Service to America Medals award was created in 2002 by the Partnership for Public Service, a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization dedicated to revitalizing our federal government by inspiring a new generation to serve and by transforming the way government works.
